As far as its possibility for discreet enquiries goes, Percy decides to write off the rest of the evening as a washout – if it wasn’t one before he’d even started – and sets about returning to the hotel. This thing with Friedler, whatever it is, must come to a head soon. It has gone way beyond a petty wrangle over jurisdiction, beyond some pique about informational quid pro quo; the footage, if indeed there is any, is never coming his way. And this must be because the man himself is involved, somehow. What else can it be? Though involved in what is still unclear. Is he allied in some way with the Arc, with Caulden? This would be to dissolve the natural animosity traditional to Company-Municipality relations, but stranger alliances are not unknown.
